Dear Murray Families,

I am pleased to share that Virginia L. Murray Elementary School was once again selected to receive the Virginia Board of Education Excellence Award for 2018-2019.  This award is a direct reflection of the collective support provided by our whole school community.  Thank you for being a part of helping our students succeed each year.

​

On a personal note, I would like to thank everyone for all of the well wishes and kind thoughts shared with me the past few days.  It has been an honor to serve this school community for the past ten years.  I am humbled and grateful by your incredible support.  This truly is a "Great Place To Grow."

I want to thank all of our parents and families for the wonderful support you gave our faculty during Teacher Appreciation Week.  As always everything was lovely and much appreciated. 

 

It is that time of year to begin turning our attention to the next school year.  As we begin planning for next year it is very helpful to know if for some reason your child will not be returning next year.  If you are moving and need assistance with transfer of records please contact our main office for assistance at 977-4599.

As we near the last week of school, don't forget that our last School Wide Morning Meeting will be held at 8:10 on the last day of school.  We would love to see you there to help us celebrate another great school year.

I want to thank all of you for your kind words of encouragement and support during my recent medical absence.  This is a special school community that I feel very fortunate to belong.

​

I want to congratulate Ms. Emilie Pastorfield for her recent recognition as our Golden Apple Award recipient this year.  Ms. Pastorfield will be recognized with representatives from other local schools at a ceremony later this spring.

​

The third quarter is coming to a close, which means student report cards will be updated soon.  You will be able to access those reports through the Parent Portal beginning the week of April 15.

Welcome Back!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Winter Break.  We are hitting the ground running as we look forward to a great second half of the school year.

​

With winter officially in full swing, and the increased likelihood for weather events this is a great opportunity to review your school emergency plans.  If you have had any phone number changes or emergency contact changes please update those with our front office in case we need to reach you for notification of early dismissals.
